Insulated Concrete Formwork (ICF) is a product that combines concrete formwork and insulation in one panel. The panels act as the formwork for the concrete pour and remain afterwards to act as the wall insulation. This greatly improves the construction timeline, as well as provides a system that is very resistant to air infiltration.
Thomas Paquette Studio – ICFs were used up to five feet above the floor, where the building is bermed into the hill, and woodframe construction was used above. The ICF walls also provide an excellent high-mass building element that is resistant to temperature change.
